Sequence of Courses

Sequence of Courses Typically, students take the core classes of English, math, science, and social studies every year throughout high school. Students begin to earn credits toward graduation during their ninth (9th) grade year. Following is a general outline of courses that students will take during their high school career.
Clarion-Limestone Area School District requires that students earn 24 credits for graduation, including 4 English credits, 3 math credits, 3 science credits, and 3 social studies credits. Students are required to take physical education every year throughout high school, as well as a one-quarter credit senior high health class.
7th Grade·
- English 7
- Math 7 or Pre-Algebra and Geometry 7
- Science 7
- Social Studies 7
- Reading / Study Skills
- Wood/Foods/Art/Keyboarding (one grading period apiece)
- Chorus and General Music or Band
- French/Spanish Gym (60 days each)
8th Grade·
English 8
Algebra I or Pre-Algebra and Geometry 8
Science 8 or Science 9
PA History / Civics
Gym / Health
Seminar (one grading period)
Computer Lit (one grading period)
Foreign Language (optional)
Sewing / Foods / Metal / Mechanical Drawing (one grading period apiece)
9th Grade
Fundamentals of English or English 9 or Advanced English 9
Algebra I or Algebra 1/2 or Academic Geometry or Transitional Math I
Science 9 or Biology
American Cultures I
Speech/Research/Human Development (30 days each)
